Shaping the Penumbra
VFN-M24 is conceived as a living structure, attuned to the rhythm of daylight and the presence of those who inhabit it. During the day, architecture engages in a quiet dialogue with natural light, which flows freely through its open spaces. But it is at nightfall when the lighting design reveals its true purpose: to accompany life from the shadows, tracing intimate, measured and deeply material atmospheres.
The Garden: Breathing shadows
Outdoors, light is not a tool—it is a presence that sculpts. The intervention works through contrast and subtlety, illuminating the vegetation with precision to cast living, choreographed shadows across the façade. In the dark, sculptures emerge from the foliage like silent figures inhabiting the garden.
Rest areas are defined by discreet low-level lighting. Light does not dictate—it suggests. Reflected across surfaces—greenery, granite, texture—it guides movement, framing the transition into the interior as a warm, pulsing threshold.
Interior: Between aesthetics and biology
The boundary between inside and outside dissolves. Large windows act as transparent membranes, and the interior lighting continues this continuity through an integrative approach. Every lighting element is fused into the architecture, supporting the domestic rhythm across three layers: visual, biological, and emotional.
Art and museographic lighting
Artworks are treated with museum-grade precision. The methacrylate cases that house them are illuminated with grazing light, cast from adjustable optics hidden within upper rails. This treatment enhances volume, casts controlled shadows, and renders each piece with sculptural clarity.
Texture, warmth, silence
Warmth is introduced through indirect wall sconces that use wood as a natural reflector, bathing rooms in a soft, atmospheric glow. In communal areas, discreet recessed spots precisely define seating and dining zones, eliminating the need for visual barriers.
Scenes that follow life’s rhythm
From the cinema—where ultra-warm 2300K tones and a grid of linear lights embedded in wooden slats create a fully immersive experience—to the central courtyard, conceived as a large decorative fixture radiating calm and light to adjacent spaces, every aspect of the project is structured through programmable scenes that adapt to the real tempo of everyday life.
The Bunker: Contained transgression
The tour ends in what is known as “The Bunker”—a multipurpose space that morphs from garage to entertainment room through a dynamic digital lighting installation. Point-by-point programmable LED strips transform the mood completely: from sophisticated gallery to private club, with variations in color, intensity, and narrative.
In VFN-M24, light is not a technical resource—it is a living system that responds with precision and sensitivity to its inhabitants. A project where atmosphere and function coexist seamlessly. A home that, even in darkness, never stops breathing.
