Hyatt Centric

The building that houses the Hyatt Centric Gran Vía captivated us from the very beginning. With its 1920s architecture, it became clear that our role was to simply reveal its inherent character. At Light & Studio, we approached the project with a deep respect for its identity, focusing on enhancing its architectural features—especially the sculpture of Diana theHuntress, which has crowned the building alongside her hounds since 2017.

One of the greatest challenges was tackling the intense light pollution of Gran Vía, one of the busiest streets in Europe. Through a detailed analysis of the exterior lighting conditions, we developed a compensation strategy based on contrast and visual hierarchy. This allowed us to emphasise the volumes of the façade and give the building a renewed nighttime presence.

In contrast to the academic classicism of the exterior, the interior embraces a more contemporary language. The lighting design is built around a focused colour palette: the greens of Madrid’s parks and the reds of its rooftops. These tones become central elements thanks to carefully positioned lighting accents that highlight textures and create a coherent visual narrative.
