Where Luxury Is Not Displayed, It Is Discovered.
Don X, our host, is a wealthy heir who, after squandering his fortune on travels and pleasures, returns home to the family treasures he wishes to share only with his closest friends. Behind a dark, inconspicuous door at José Abascal 61, a universe designed by ARCHIDOM Studio unfolds—a place where luxury and decadence coexist freely, creating the perfect setting for intimacy, enjoyment, and jet-set gossip. At Light&Studio, we have had the privilege of serving as the “lighting accomplices” for this theatrical production.
Lighting design to revive a narrative.
It all begins in the former reception hall, where the family once dazzled guests with the elegance of an aristocratic palazzo.
We highlight moldings, Renaissance tapestries, and palatial mirrors through a play of contrasts that honors the nobility of the space. Narrow-beam light rays focused on the tables enhance the theatricality of the atmosphere.
By directing light with precision, we draw attention to the architectural details and the artworks that crowd the floors and walls.
Intimacy is brought to the space by dozens of candles lining the fireplace and shelves. Their scent and movement generate an “analog vibration” that blends with our digital control. Real flames are combined with 2200K G9 LED lamps dimmed to their lowest setting. RGBW LED strips support this warmth, set to an amber hue.
The vibration of the authentic: fire and halogens under digital control.
This is a project steeped in nostalgia. We utilized cutting-edge AR111 Dim-to-Warm technology to evoke the classic halogen bulb and its unmistakable light quality. Dimmed to their minimum, these AR111s paint the interior’s architectural details with “beams from the past.”
Behind the armored door, the heart of the space is revealed. Everything unfolds beneath a translucent stone ceiling that bathes the environment in extreme warmth, making guests feel as if they were inside a gemstone mine. The earthy tones of the velvet upholstery are further enhanced by the specific hues of the light.
Bespoke luminaire design for an extraordinary space.
A sculptural curved bar anchors the room, encouraging social connection. Above it, a bespoke structure emphasizes the curve, serving simultaneously as a bottle rack and a light object. Two 2200K LED strips run laterally along the translucent base, which diffuses the light, transforming the entire structure into a grand luminaire.
The same strategy is reversed at the back of the bar: the translucent base allows light to filter through the bottles, creating a wraparound luminosity.
The “Art Warehouse” where light filters in: The triumph of the scenographic.
At the back of the venue, we discover the “Art Warehouse.” With a six-meter ceiling height, this is where the lighting becomes purely scenographic.
The feel of an abandoned hangar is heightened by mock skylights featuring a color temperature control system. This system symbolizes the passage of the day, shifting from 1800K to 4000K, providing a calculated contrast to the intense warmth of the interior at specific moments.
In Praise of Shadow: The art of projecting the non-existent.
Using projections of windows and vegetation generated with gobos, we create an atmosphere where light appears to enter from a non-existent exterior, reinforcing the sense of a “hidden discovery.”
These gobos, along with the rest of the architectural luminaires, were designed specifically for 61.sixtyone—a select club that begs to be discovered, a true cabinet of curiosities where you can lose yourself to find yourself.
Telling stories through light.
At Light&Studio, we don’t just light a space; we orchestrate a sensory experience where light is the secret language connecting an aristocratic past with the technological pulse of the present. Because in a sanctuary of clandestine sophistication like this, the light is what decides which mysteries remain in the shadows and which emerge to shine under the rhythm of the night.
