In the heart of A Coruña, the Cometta restaurant celebrates local produce through an honest, farm-to-table culinary approach that nourishes and cares for its guests.
These values have been translated into the space by PétreoStudio through an interior design characterized by clean, pure lines and a distinct industrial aesthetic.
Light&Studio enhanced the space with soft, warm lighting, featuring a sculptural piece that complements the central table.
The space is structured around distinct atmospheres that coexist in visual harmony. For the banquette seating, we selected Marset’s Manhattan wall lamps (designed by Joan Gaspar); their uniform, soft light contrasts with the technical precision of the “super-spot” downlights on the opposite side, which illuminate each table individually. Above the bar, the Fris fixture provides a continuous plane of light that complements a decorative table lamp, adding a cozy, residential touch. Much like the Cometta kitchen, the lighting design prioritizes the customer’s well-being by preventing glare and supporting circadian rhythms.
The centerpiece: engineering and artisanal intuition
The project’s central feature is a suspended lighting fixture above the main table, custom-designed and developed for Cometta. The space’s industrial character—highlighted by exposed ductwork, an open kitchen, and stainless steel finishes—inspired this fixture, which is mounted on an electrical support grid. It features a cylindrical design with LED tubes that appear to levitate around the actual light source: a 360° neon-style LED arranged in three independent sections, creating shadows on the tubes to evoke an aged, vintage aesthetic.
Finding glass LED tubes—rather than polycarbonate ones—was a challenge, yet it was a crucial detail for ensuring perfect light diffusion. This guarantees that the fixture will not degrade or yellow over time due to heat. The tubes are arranged around an invisible structural core that runs through the interior, acting as a support. The assembly appears to be held together by faux cable ties that reinforce its industrial character.
It is the small details that make great projects, and this one in particular is full of them.
