Robata

Tucked away in Puigcerdà alley, just off the iconic Jorge Juan street, Robata is a contemporary Japanese restaurant that unfolds across three distinct levels—each with its own personality, yet unified by an enveloping and evocative lighting concept.

The atmosphere is crafted through a careful play of light and shadow. Illumination appears with intention, accentuating materials, textures and details. This intimate lighting design echoes the ritual of Japanese grilling, transforming darkness into a narrative element.

The experience begins in the outdoor terrace, where, as night falls, a warm and discreet glow highlights each table and casts soft shadows among the surrounding greenery.

On the ground floor, an open kitchen is partially veiled by a backlit red shelving unit filled with traditional Japanese tableware. Technical lighting supports the activity at the grill, where glimpses of glowing charcoal offer a preview of the culinary experience.

In the main dining area, focused beams of light spotlight the tables, giving centrestage to the dishes. Decorative fixtures—a blend of pieces selected by the interior designers and bespoke creations—reinforce the unique character of the space.

The upper floor houses a covered terrace defined by its own structure, where suspended decorative luminaires appear to float, completing a lighting narrative that is coherent, subtleand refined.
